The Synergy Yoga Center in Encinitas has gone out of business, due to a conspiracy lead by Terry Rondberg, Roxanne DePalma and Melinda DePalma and Ben Mendohlson. Our name has been slandered in many ways, including through public blogs and websites that they created. They've fabricated reasons for dragging us through unwanted lawsuits, which they have lost, but have taxed our every last resource. The healing venue that has served so many, is now gone. We apologize, but we have no way of keeping the business open, and we have no way to defend ourselves against their slander, exept to expose the truth. Hence, the following information is now published for all who are interested. Of course, Rondberg and his followers are offended to finally be exposed.
There were sudden, dramatic changes in Rondberg's and the recent ex-employees' attitudes towards Peri and the remaining staff. We feel the audios posted below especially convey this. Roxanne's second message was the day before she walked out.
Peri formerly had very loving relationships with Roxanne, Charmaine Calcara, and all of the others, before Rondberg and Roxanne, his now girlfriend, called Charmaine relentlessly and lied to her so convincingly, that she completely betrayed Peri. Charmaine did not even call to discuss or ask Peri about the accusations that were made. She just left, as did the others, without notice, right before the February Ten Day started. This was especially damaging as Charmaine was employed as the Office Manager to run the studio, and did not pass information on or train anyone new, and Roxanne used to be the Head Mentor Teacher. Roxanne's lies have convinced many wonderful people which has caused us great sadness. With the following information, we are answering to public damaging statements and accusations that they made, which affect not just us, but our teachers around the world, our students, our community and all those who could be negatively impacted by internet slander.

We don't want to report every little thing but we are still being attacked on a daily basis. The Judge stated that the Rondberg team's actions are criminal and damaging. However, because of Freedom of Speech, the court ruled that the "Rottenberg" (as one news reporter put it) website is allowed to be published.

Dear Friends and Students,
We're pleased to let you know that Encinitas Yoga will open this Monday, May 12th, in the former Synergy Yoga Center Annex on Second Street. Although Encinitas Yoga is a separate business under different ownership, we feel privileged and delighted to offer daily Synergy Yoga® classes taught by all of the teachers: Linda, Outi, Jen, Sumathi, Kim, Helen, Caroline and Kelly.
Any series purchased from the Synergy Yoga Center WILL be honored. For the first couple of days we will accept cash and check, but later in the week should be able to accept credit cards as well. We do have a limited changing facility, so please plan accordingly.

A new business, being opened by an angel student, will continue the tradition of Synergy Yoga. The new business plans to start offering daily classes Monday May 12th.

Dearest Students and Friends:
On April 14th, 2008, it will be Synergy Yoga's 16th birthday. Unfortunately, it will be our last day of teaching classes, unless we can find a buyer. As you probably know by now, we have been under a vicious attack by a former student, Terry Rondberg, and a former teacher Roxanne DePalma. They have engaged in a campaign of intimidation and defamation designed to destroy the Yoga Room and the reputation of our founder and master teacher, Peri Ness. We are currently in a lawsuit to recover damages against these two and others for their illegal actions, which include publishing lies about Peri on their website, distributing flyers throughout Encinitas claiming that Synergy Yoga is a cult, and stealing our customer list to further distribute their lies.
Terry and Roxanne's primary allegations are that SynergyYoga is a cult, brainwashes people and Peri is a fraud and liar. Obviously, these allegations are untrue and designed to destroy us financially. Although many students have come to our defense, and we thank them for their loyalty, most people simply do not want to be caught in the middle of this drama. And truly, who would want to expose themselves to Terry and Roxanne's negative energy. Thus, their campaign has been successful in keeping customers away from the Yoga Room, resulting in us canceling workshops and classes. We do not blame our students for not coming to classes, we understand, but we cannot continue to operate without revenue.
Many of you knew Roxanne before she began down this destructive path, and are probably perplexed by her behavior. You should be aware that she abruptly left Synergy Yoga shortly after she checked out from the William Hitt Center for drug treatment. We suspect that she may not be free of her own inner demons as of yet. In addition, she is currently living with Terry Rondberg, a person who also went through treatment for substance abuse problems and according to court documents, has a history of violence and mental health issues. In a domestic violence action filed by Roxanne in June of 2007, Roxanne claimed that Mr. Rondberg threatened to "slit her throat" if she were to be with anyone else. In addition, she claimed that Mr. Rondberg is being treated for a bipolar disorder. Nevertheless, they are now living as a couple. We pray that she finds a way to free herself from her toxic relationship with Mr. Rondberg.
Roxanne's actions demonstrate someone who has lost their moral compass. Shortly after she left, she contacted our landlord of 16 years, and sought to take over our lease. After our landlord refused to break our lease, she began this horrible campaign against the Yoga Room. The only logical conclusion is that her behavior is a misguided attempt to take over Synergy Yoga and its studio space. If she had simply sought to open up her own yoga studio, we would have wished her only the best. However, destroying someone's reputation is not a legitimate business practice. Her actions have grave consequences both legally and spiritually.
Terry Rondberg, one of our former students and Roxanne's current lover, holds himself out as a chiropractic maverick, even publishing books on the subject. However, he is unlicensed in the State of California, and may not be licensed anywhere in the United States. Despite lacking a license, Terry Rondberg performed an "adjustment" on Peri on the Yoga Room floor, rupturing a disk in her back. He has admitted such facts in a handwritten letter to Peri that we have posted on our website. After writing the letter and realizing the legal implications of his admissions, he began his campaign to destroy Synergy Yoga. Perhaps Mr. Rondberg is on the mistaken belief that if Peri goes bankrupt, he will avoid legal liability. Again, we suspect that either his bipolar disorder described in previous court documents, or perhaps continued substance abuse may help explain his erratic behavior. Regardless of the reason or motive, we will prosecute Mr. Rondberg to the fullest extent of the law.
Peri and Charles plan on relocating to Point Arena, where they own a small yoga studio. There, daily classes will continue in the tradition of Synergy Yoga. Please visit us for classes set in the secluded forests and pristine coastline of Northern California.
So, it is with tremendous sadness that we inform you that we are closing our doors. Hopefully we can find a buyer in the next two weeks who will continue our legacy. Our ultimate wish is that students can be exposed to other types of yoga, while still having access to Synergy classes taught by our fantastic teachers. Thank you for all your amazing letters of support. Despite the incredible suffering and injustice caused by this small group of people, we will survive. We will update you at the end of this month with news on where our loyal teachers are giving classes, if not here at the Yoga Room.

Dear Students and Friends,
You have probably heard by now that we are under tremendous attack by a former student, Terry Rondberg, a chiropractor who injured Peri's back during an adjustment. Mr. Rondberg is now trying to destroy our business and reputation claiming that Synergy Yoga is a cult. that we brainwash our students and are otherwise morally bankrupt. He has created a website that is very destructive to us on a personal and professional level and is untrue. The website demonstrates pure hatred and slander and is far from the principals of yoga and truthfulness, despite Mr. Rondberg's claim that he is now a devotee of Yogananda.
In his drive to put us out of business, Mr. Rondberg has encouraged four of our young teachers to leave us. These teachers left without notice and are now participating in Mr. Rondberg's vendetta. We have attempted to talk to these former teachers to no avail. Nevertheless we wish them well, and hope they abandon this negative path.
Synergy Yoga has been here for 16 years and provided a wonderful service for over 10,000 students and customers. As in all long-established businesses, we have not been able to please everyone. Some people have not appreciated our teachings and trainings. We have always been open to resolving any problems or complaints, and hope to continue to faithfully serve our community. Unfortunately, we do not know if we can fight this man's conspiracy against us. He apparently has unlimited funds and time to pursue his vendetta. Thus, we ask for your support during this difficult time.
Please understand that Mr. Rondberg's website only provides negative responses regarding Synergy Yoga. Currently no one can enter his website to counter his claims. Our students' attempts to counter some of the untruths and post positive testimonials regarding Synergy Yoga are not being published. Thus, we are grateful to an anonymous student who started a blog at http://yogisforperi.blogspot.com. Thank you for all your love and support. We are fighting to keep our business and “your yoga studio” open in order to continue serving you. Please pray for us.
